My Work Experience Story

News Story
At the start of the week, I wrote down things I was looking forward to and was excited about doing over my week of work experience. I was looking forward to watching the dance classes and seeing what I can inspire to dance like, and I was very satisfied and amazed in what I saw. I partially enjoyed the circus class when half the class studied here at The Place and the other half were a circus group from elsewhere and they collaborated to make a wonderful dance performance with circus tricks incooperated.
I also talked about how I was excited for the interview practice because next year I will need to be applying for sixth form and being able to know what the best way to go about doing that was very beneficial. I feel like they covered that very well and I'm feeling much more confident in the area.
Finally, I talked about the facts that I would like to learn more about what the university has to offer as this is a potential place where I would consider studying. Throughout my week here going through the different departments has given me a clearer in-depth understanding of what goes on here. Therefore, I will be applying to go here when I'm old enough.
I would also like to add how kind and friendly everyone is everywhere you look everyone has a smile on your face which brightens up my day as soon as I get here.
Monday: I had a tour of the building then when to the school office to learn about what they do there and asked lots of questions to understand the school better. After that I had a lunch break then came straight back to do some website content research. We looked through the website and saw what was good on there and what I through would be improved. After that we went to observe one of the classes they do here which was called flying low when the worked on new and creative ways to travel across the floor in the space and to go in and out of the floor. This is a class I've never seen anywhere before so the students are very lucky to be able to have that opportunity.
Tuesday: When I arrived I went to admissions for a Q&A session and talked about things such as the audition process, how many people they take a year, class sizes, etc. After that, I went to the CAT office and lived the life of the lady that worked there. I did various things such as washing up dirty cups, doing the register for the whole program, and shredding paper. It was very interesting to see how busy their jobs were, and that was something that I never realised before. After that I went to the Development office when me and the other girl doing work experience found three companies and wrote about why they should and would donate to The Place. We chose Urban Outfitters, Franco Manca, and also alumni. After lunch I observed the circus class which, as I already talked about, was the highlight of all the classes I've got to observe
Wednesday: When I arrived I went to Communications where we wrote descriptions for people with impaired vision on the photos on the website, which was something very different and fun. I also got the programs ready for the upcoming show and put up a giant poster on one of the walls in the corridor. Then I went to a Theatre and Artist Development meeting where lots of members of staff attended and talked about what's been going on in their departments, and up and coming projects and tasks. Then, we went to Creative Learning and learnt about their youth program and their adult one. After lunch, I went to the Costume department which had so many clothes I couldn't believe my eyes. I sorted out the clothes by putting them into different groups then had to colour coordinate them, which was a lot harder than I thought.
Thursday: I got to dance in the Adult Over 60s class, where the participants were more than happy to welcome us and see new faces in the studio. I really enjoyed this class. After that, I went to interview practice. As I said at the start, this was very helpful. After lunch I observed the popping class which is a style of street, and it was very impressive.
Friday: I'm in blog writing while I'm writing this (so hope I did a good job!) and later today I am watching the grad show rehearsals, then having a chat with the Theatre Program Team. Finally, I'll be watching the dress run of the show Ham-Beth which I'm very excited for!
