Camden Partner Schools Programme
Over the last six years The Place has engaged 16 local primary schools in Camden - approximately 3,400 children - in an exciting programme of creative dance activity. We want to give children the chance to experience dance in their lives and provide teachers with the confidence to embed it in their school’s curriculum permanently.
The Partner School package for 2022-2023 costs £1,200. The programme is designed for two participating classes in your school and includes:
- Welcome Workshop: A visit to The Place where children get to take part in an introductory dance workshop and observe the fulltime students in their dance classes
- Professional Dance Performance: Tickets for both classes to attend a professional dance show in our theatre
- Creative Project: 20 hours of in-school creative dance sessions led by our team of skilled and experienced dance artists. This project is cross-curricular – designed to enhance and expand learning that is already taking place in the classroom – and culminates in the creation of a short dance piece that our artists help the children to make
- Camden Partner Schools Festival: Children return to The Place to perform their dance creations in our theatre with costumes, lighting, and an audience of almost 300! The performance is professionally filmed and shared with each school
- In-School Performance: An up-close performance in your school hall by students from London Contemporary Dance School, with a facilitated Q&A
- CPD: 1.5-3 hours of bespoke teacher CPD, designed to suit the needs of either the whole staff group or specific class teachers
- Discounted Tickets: 50% off tickets to mid-week matinees at The Place theatre
- Artsmark Support: The partnership provides evidence for multiple criteria for an Artsmark application
With over 19 years’ experience as a classroom teacher, this is one of the most, if not THE most, inspiring, aspirational and engaging experiences for all children.
