About BA Summer School

The London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS) Summer School is a chance to experience life at LCDS, the undergraduate course, take classes and get to know our current students and faculty.

Our Summer School takes place in The Place building in central London. There are practical classes all led by our world-leading facilitators, insights into course modules, time to chat with students, Q&As with course leaders, information about our application process and Visa & IELTS (The International English Language Testing System) guidance.

Who is it for?

The LCDS Summer School is aimed at people aged 16 years + and for those who are thinking of applying to the undergraduate course at London Contemporary Dance School, however it is not necessary for you to be a prospective student to apply. Anyone aged 16+ is welcome to apply.

What the weeks look like

Please note: This is a general idea of what the two weeks would look like. The final schedule will be updated in the coming months.

Dance classes throughout the two weeks:

  • Contemporary/ release based-technique
  • Ballet
  • Body percussion
  • Gaga
  • Improvisation
  • Dance filmmaking / screendance
  • Cunningham-based technique
  • Break dancing
  • Workshop with an LCDS 2022 graduate

Other sessions:

  • Tour of The Place
  • Q&A with current LCDS students and faculty

Your weekends will be free for you to explore London - our faculty and students will have plenty of suggestions for you to find interesting things to do, engage in the wider arts scene, eat great food, and more.

How to apply

There is no application process or eligility criteria for Summer School.

Simply click on 'Book now' and book your place. Early bookings are advised as there are limited spaces available on the course.

International Participants

International students are welcome to attend our BA Summer School on a short-term visitor visa or an ETA.

Please note:

  • From 08 Jan 2025, all non-European passport holders need to apply for an ETA to enter the UK unless you already have a valid visa.
  • From 02 Apr 2025, all EU passport holders need to apply for an ETA to enter the UK unless you already have a valid visa.

Accommodation

For anyone aged 18 or over seeking accommodation during our Summer School, we have partnered with Londonist—a trusted provider offering safe, modern, and centrally located housing to suit various budgets.

If you prefer hotel options, we recommend the Four Points by Marriott in Euston or one of the Premier Inn hotels in the Kings Cross area. For a smaller budget, the YHA London Central offers affordable hostel-style accommodation, while Airbnb is also a popular choice for flexible short-term stays in London.
