Somers Town Festival – Camden

The Place has programmed performances and workshops for this local Camden event over the last 6 years. In July 2024, we were successful in applying for funding from Camden Council’s Cultural Education Fund, and we produced a Dance Stage at the festival in which we presented 4 professional performances and 4 dance workshops to entertain the festival goers.

In summer 2025 we presented Gandini Juggling, performing their wonderful work You Too Can Tutu, which we commissioned for our Playground Tour, as well as a workshop at Somers Town Festival,

Sonia Sabri & Old Diorama Arts Centre – Regents Roots Festival Project

In August 2024 we commissioned a community performance project with young people from Remix Dance, based at Old Diorama Arts Centre in partnership with Sonia Sabri Company.

Robson House (Netley School Campus)

We have been delivering projects with Robson House over the last 5 years, incorporating both movement and film, creating short screendance films that the children get to watch, and the school shares with parents and carers in a screening at the school. All of the children can be involved in creating movement, but also, in using the cameras to film each other.

Robson House is the base of Camden’s Primary Learning Support Service (PLSS). PLSS is made up of the Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PPRU), the SEMH Outreach Team and the Camden Language and Communication Service (CLCS). Robson House is a specialist therapeutic and educational placement for children who cannot attend mainstream school because of social, emotional and mental health needs, or who have been permanently excluded from school.

Holborn Community Association Partnership

This partnership began with 3 taster creative dance sessions in Autumn 2023, with an older adults’ group that meet regularly at HCA. We plan to develop this work with older adults in our local communities together, with a focus on ageing well and creative health projects over the next 5 years.

In Autumn 2024 we started offering satellite creative dance classes for children aged 4-6 and 7-11years following requests from families at the centre and we continued these through the spring term 2025. In summer 2025 we continued to offer the class for 4–6-year-olds and will also develop dance projects with children that connect with our family programme of dance performances across the year.
