Thomasin Gülgeç
Thomasin is a London-based dance artist who trained at Swindon Dance and Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance before joining Rambert (2003-2011). As a company member, he created roles and performed works by internationally renowned choreographers including Javier de Frutos, Karole Armitage, Wayne McGregor, Siobhan Davies, Merce Cunningham, Fin Walker, Itzik Galili, Doug Varone, Kim Bandstrup, Darshan Sing Bhuller, Gary Stewart, Aletta Collins, and Christopher Bruce - receiving a Critics’ Circle National Dance Award in 2009 for Outstanding Performance in Bruce’s Hush.
As a dance artist, he has toured extensively with Russell Maliphant Company and Company Chameleon, whilst collaborating on productions with National Theatre, Young Vic, The Royal Ballet, Royal Opera House, Dan Daw Projects, Boris Charmatz | Terrain, Candoco Dance Company, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Alice Oswald, and Mad Dogs Dance Theatre.
In 2019, he was invited to dance in Night of 100 Solos: A Centennial Event at The Barbican in celebration of Merce Cunningham’s 100th birthday.
Thomasin danced in Akram Khan’s ‘Abide With Me’ created for The London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony, and in 2020 joined Akram Khan Company for Jungle Book reimagined which toured theatres worldwide until 2025.
He has been a dedicated martial artist, trained in Judo and reaching black belt in Shotokan Karate, and later, Graduate level in ABADÁ Capoeira.
Thomasin’s interest in wellbeing through movement led to studying Chinese Medicine and in 2022 he became a licensed practitioner of Five-Element Acupuncture.
