Performer and Choreographer

Solène is a dancer, choreographer and teacher based in Scotland. She formally trained in the regional conservatoire of Lyon and pursued her training at London Contemporary Dance School where she obtained a BA (Hons) first class degree and an MA in Contemporary Dance and Performance. She focused her studies on improvisation, performance and wrote her MA on inclusive practices looking at the politics of disabled and non-disabled bodies on stage.

As a full-time member of Scottish Dance Theatre until 2012 and currently with the company as an associate artist, Solène created and performed work by choreographers such as Hofesh Shechter, Ina Christel Johannessen, Kate Weare, Rachel Lopez de la Nieta, Neve Harrington, Meytal Blanaru to name just a few.

Solène became a freelancer in 2012 and built two long lasting artistic relationships with Ben Duke (Lost Dog) and Joan Clevillé (Joan Clevillé Dance). Story-telling, dance and laughter have been in the center of The life and times of Girl A, Home for broken turns, It needs horses, Juliet&Romeo with Ben. Plan b for Utopia, The North and Antigone, Interrupted with Joan. These works have allowed her to develop her dance and theatre practice for the last 10 years. Solène was rewarded best female modern dancer 2019 by the Critic Circle Awards for her role as Juliet.
Building on her experience with Dance Theatre, Solène created her own
work, AFTER ALL, and opened in August 2023 as part of Made In Scotland at Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Solène is also a rehearsal director for OD Works (Oona Doherty) after dancing for the company since 2019.

Solène’s freelance path also includes working with Gecko Theatre Company (directed by Amit Lahav), Vera Tussing Projects and Rosalind Masson.

For 13 years, Solène was a founding member of Collective Endeavours, a Glasgow-based music and dance collective that performs improvised pieces in non-conventional spaces in the UK and abroad.
