Shadi Alcott

Shadi is Dance artist, teacher and published poet based in Bristol and London. She is also the new CAT Trainee starting in January 2025. She has recently completed her academic studies, graduating with a First-Class honours Degree in BA Diverse Dance Styles at Irie! Dance Theatre. She has spent the last 4 years training in traditional West African and Caribbean forms whilst embellishing her passions for flow-based techniques and floor work.
Prior to beginning her traineeship, she was a dancer for the IRIE Dance Theatre! National touring company where she showcased traditional dances from the African/Caribbean diaspora with a contemporary fusion. Alongside working for the CAT scheme Shadi is Co- artistic director of Shadaki Dance – a company whose ethos centres around driving Caribbean fusion technique and essence into all four corners of mainstream, classical dance.
This coming year she hopes to strengthen her knowledge of the classical realm and find deeper connections between Caribbean and Contemporary techniques, nourishing a fluidity between them.
