Lórien Peters
Lórien is a multidisciplinary movement artist based in Birmingham and Leeds. Lórien graduated from Northern School of Contemporary Dance in 2023 and during Lóriens’ time at NSCD their highlight has been choreographing their own work which is now being revived for an R&D facilitated by Open Source Arts and The Middle Floor. Their movement practice consists of a combination of improvisation scores, release, physical theatre and inspirations from breaking. They use tasks or feelings to generate movement and find connections with others in the space to create real, genuine emotion. Lórien is a graduate of the MA Dance: Performance programme at LCDS, where they were a member of the inaugural Cohort 01. During the programme they worked with project leaders such as Theo Clinkard, Jenna Jalonen, Hannes Langolf, Paleta, Benjamin Jonsson, AE Company (Aoi Nakamura & Esteban Lecoq), Edivaldo Ernesto, Horacio Macuacua, Jozef Frucek and Alexandra Reynolds under the course leadership of Tom English, Tina Afiyan Breiova and Dr Andrew Sanger and working closely with individual mentor Gary Clark. |
A moment from the course which really stuck with me was working with Theo Clinkard for his R&D project ‘Village’. During this process I discovered a deeper connection towards repetition and patience within movement.
