Gladys Agulhas (she/her)
My feminist dance practice in centred upon holistic movement research with a diverse, inclusive community of local women in Eldorado Park, where I live. My practice is rooted in the rich cultural and political histories of South Africa, recognising that humanity is negotiated by being seen, known, and heard. My evolving dance and research methodology is about somatic listening: facilitation focused on female bodily memories that are spoken through movement and voice. The practice supports us finding a sense of belonging in the community. EveryBODY moves together beyond technique: creatively, confidently and free.
