The Place, the UK’s leading centre for dance education, creation and performance announces the appointment of Shaparak Rahimi to its Board of Governors. Comprising a broad range of people from a variety of disciplines and industries, The Place’s Board of Governors share their expertise to support The Place’s vision and are committed to ensuring the growth and future of the organisation.

Shaparak Rahimi has been immersed in placemaking and the built environment for the last 15 years in both public and private sectors. She is currently socio-economic development manager at Lendlease working on the Euston Over-Station Development and is responsible for social sustainability and community consultation. She previously worked in policy development, strategy, and regeneration at the London Borough of Camden. Since training as an architectural historian, she has developed a deep concern for equitable urban regeneration in her work across a range of sectors, communities, and professions. As a long-time Camden resident and mother of a young family, Shaparak is committed to supporting London’s creative arts and to ensuring young, diverse talent continues to thrive in the city.

I am thrilled to welcome Shaparak to our Board. As well as having a personal connection to contemporary dance, Shaparak is a key figure in the built environment and is passionate about social sustainability. As a global institution, The Place is proud to have our built our identity and home in Camden, London. We look forward to having Shaparak on board to continue to shape our connections now and in the future.
