Job Description

Jessica Van de Koot is hosting a 1.5hr professional contemporary class followed by 2.5hrs research and development workshop for an upcoming commision for the University of Illinois' symposium 'An Invocation to Aphrodite' - an immersive contemporary dance piece exploring Sappho's relationship with Aphrodite. The piece is inspired by Sappho's poetry and life, it will explore themes of love, eroticism and feminism as well as the impact her work had on the audience of the time. We will explore how her poems may have been performed using dance, song and text to bring her ideas and lyricism to life once again.

This workshop is designed to share my practice and explore ideas as well as connect with dancers and enjoy moving and exploring together. I am hoping to bring this piece to the UK so will also be looking to connect with dancers for these future hopes and dreams!
