Change of registered name - FAQ

From 1 October 2025, The Place will change its registered company name from Contemporary Dance Trust Limited to London Contemporary Dance (The Place) Limited.
The new name brings our registered and trading names into alignment, combining the name that most people know us by with our home in the heart of London, and will make public information about The Place easier to find.
1. What’s changing?
Our registered company name will change from Contemporary Dance Trust Limited to London Contemporary Dance (The Place) Limited from 1 October 2025.
2. Why are we making this change?
The new name brings our registered and trading names into alignment, combining The Place as our recognised public identity and the name that most people know us by with with our location in the heart of London, and our role as home to London Contemporary Dance School.
Our previous registered name, Contemporary Dance Trust Limited, did not relate to our trading names and had led to some instances of confusion or difficulty finding our information (including NPO, HEIF, TEF and NSS results and our listing on Companies House). Our trading names will continue to be The Place in respect of overall operations, and LCDS in respect of higher education
3. Will this affect our company number or bank details?
No - our company number, bank account details, and other key identifiers remain exactly the same. This is a change to the registered name only.
4. Does this change affect contracts, funding agreements, or day-to-day operations?
No - all existing agreements and operations remain valid and unaffected. Only the registered name will change.
You may wish to gather a list of external partners, funders and contractors to inform as a courtesy about the name change, but existing contracts and agreements will remain valid.
5. Who will be informed about the change and when?
The Senior Leadership Team is preparing a stakeholder communications plan, to ensure funders, partners, suppliers, and other contacts are informed. Further information about who to contact and when will be circulated nearer to the effective date.
6. What if my question isn’t answered above?
