Family Dance Day
Summer 2026

About Family Dance Day
Saturday 18 July, 11am-4pm
Join us for a joyful and jam-packed day of outdoor performances and activities created especially for children under 12 and their families. London's most exciting family dance event of the year is completely free.
Performances include: BUG,
where performers dressed as giant insects come to life in funny, funky dances inspired by the natural world, complete with live electronic music and playful sound effects; Prisma, a magical dance show inspired by children’s books, bursting with imagination; and finally, No Sugar No Milk, an exhilarating spectacle combining physical theatre, martial arts and circus stunts.
There will also be a special performance by Shuffle, The Place's resident youth dance company.
Plus, there will be interactive dance workshops throughout the day to get your young dancers moving.
No booking is required –just turn up on the day!
Performances
BUG by Lea Anderson MBE
We present - for your entertainment - the spectacular street dances of our awesome insects. Featuring, The Crunchy Cockroach, The Mesmeric Mantis, The Handsome Honeybee, and The Heavenly House Fly!
Brought to you by your buzzin’ hosts; ’BUG’ the drummer, and ‘GUB’ the street dancer.
Created in collaboration with choreographer and performer Lewis Norman and composer/musician Steve Blake, design by Simon Vincenzi.
Prisma by Rotem Weissman
A weird and wonderful dance show inspired by children’s books, created by German-based choreographer Rotem Weissman and presented in the UK in partnership with Goethe Institute.
No Sugar No Milk by TS Crew
An exhilarating outdoor spinoff of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe hit, this physical theatre, martial arts, dance, and circus spectacle channels Hong Kong's cinematic stunts into a vibrant, fixed-site urban adventure. Cha Chaan Teng diner staff transform into street warriors, racing to deliver milky tea, buttery toast, and nostalgic bites!
Blending flips, precision kicks, beatboxing, and acrobatics, they leap over benches, scale walls, and incorporate surrounding elements into thrilling feats.
How to get there
Family Dance Day will be taking place at Coram's Fields (93 Guilford St, London, WC1N 1DN). The closest stations are Russell Square, Euston and Kings Cross Stations.
Weather
Family Dance Day will go ahead come rain or shine!
If it's a very hot day, we advise bringing a hat and suncream. There are places to fill up water bottles and there's plenty of shade in the park – there's even a splash pool to cool off in.
In the event of wet weather, all performances and activities will go ahead indoors where capacity is limited. Please note that entry cannot be guaranteed for every performance in the indoor venue.

We're committed to making Family Dance Day as accessible as possible. For more information, please visit our Access Information page or get in touch if you have any questions.
