About After After

LIMITED EARLY BIRD TICKETS AVAILABLE*

Celebrated for his immersive and visually striking performances, Dutch artist Arno Schuitemaker brings seven dancers together beneath a single strip of light in After After.

As old ideas of progress and endless growth begin to fray, the performers claim a blank canvas and start to imagine what might come next. What if "the after" is not a future to wait for, but something to rehearse together? Drawing on the spirit of the dance floor, seven distinct voices and ways of moving unfold side by side. Through touch, attention and care, the dancers create a shifting field of difference, connection and possibility. An electronic score and striking lighting transform the space around them as small gestures gather momentum, creating an atmosphere that is both intimate and exhilarating.

Exploring recreation in every sense of the word, After After is an act of reimagining, a celebration of pleasure, and a performance about the effort of making another kind of world imaginable.

This performance will be followed by a BSL interpreted Post Show Talk.

About Arno Schuitemaker

Arno Schuitemaker creates hyperphysical works that fuse dance and performance with influences from the visual arts.

Choreography acts as a tool for radical reflection. Increasingly locating politics in and in relation to the body, the work is about the hidden mechanics that mobilize undercurrents of change so that perception shifts. Here, it begins. The still is already in motion; the secure is already dissolving; the unseen is already rewriting the world.

Working closely with his team, Arno integrates dance, light, music, scenography, voice, and video into seamless, sensorial performances where each element amplifies the others. His work engages audiences physically, emotionally, and imaginatively, inviting them into a shared space where, above all, movement becomes felt - and we are closer to each other than we think.

The performances have been presented at renowned festivals and theatres in more than 25 countries. Among his recent creations are After After (2024), The End - part 2 (2023), 30 appearances out of darkness (2022), andO S C A R (2021). The Way You Sound Tonight received the Zwaan, the most prestigious dance prize in Dutch performing arts in 2019.
