About Ballet Improvers with Marie-Astrid Mence

This intensive will run from Monday 10 to Friday 14 August.

Work on your ballet basics, building strength, alignment and self-expression.

New to ballet or thinking about coming back? This beginner-friendly intensive is the perfect place to start. You’ll learn key ballet basics like posture, turnout, and how to move smoothly through the barre and centre all broken down in a clear, easy-to-follow way.

Build strength, improve balance, and gain confidence in a supportive, no-pressure environment, while discovering your own sense of self-expression through movement.

Come curious, leave feeling stronger, more coordinated, and ready to enjoy dancing. These classes are accompanied by a live pianist.

  • Enrol for the week for £75 to save and guarantee your place or limited drop-ins for £17 per class.

About Marie-Astrid Mence

Marie-AstridMence, born in Paris, trained at the Higher National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris and as a scholarship student at the Alvin Ailey School, New York. She danced with Ballet Black (2014–2021) and Phoenix Dance Theatre (2015), touring the UK and Europe, and was named Dancer of the Month in February 2016. Stage credits include Oklahoma!(Young Vic, Wyndham’s Theatre). Screen appearances include Disney’s Find Me in Paris, L’Opéra, Spellbound, Netflix’s Queen Charlotte, and her self-written short film The Truth of Being a Black Ballerina. She teaches and coaches ballet for prestigious UK companies and schools.
