Paz Oviedo
Paz Oviedo aims to both comfort and disrupt. She believes in the power of movement and its ability to soothe one's self. Whether she need a shoulder to cry on or a glass to break, moving is always the answer. Through it, she heals what her mind is not capable of and communicates what her words cannot say. Movement to her is transformation and change, it is getting to know oneself in its most genuine state. She dances because she is human, she dances because that is when she is the most her. It is said art imitates life, so she thinks it is only fair to leave a piece of herself in everything she does. Because dance does not only happen in a studio, she carries it with her everywhere she goes. Through thick and thin, she experiences life through her craft. She seeks to transcend boundaries and invite others into a shared journey of exploration and discovery of their own emotions and experiences. Paz is a graduate of the MA Dance: Performance programme at LCDS, where she was a member of the inaugural Cohort 01. During the programme she worked with project leaders such as Theo Clinkard, Jenna Jalonen, Hannes Langolf, Paleta, Benjamin Jonsson, AE Company (Aoi Nakamura & Esteban Lecoq), Edivaldo Ernesto, Horacio Macuacua, Jozef Frucek and Alexandra Reynolds under the course leadership of Tom English, Tina Afiyan Breiova and Dr Andrew Sanger and working closely with individual mentor Aishwarya Raut. |
