Funmi Adewole Elliott

Funmi Adewole Elliott is a performer and dance practitioner. She has a background in journalism, performance, higher education and arts sector development. Her research interests include practitioner-research in postcolonial context as a form of socio-cultural repair. ‘Funmi has developed a research-informed creative practice called Sere Kinaesthetic™. The practice foregrounds ‘play’ at the intersections between storytelling, social dancing and contemporary choreography. She has an international reputation as a facilitator having designed and delivered practical workshops, lectures and labs for conservatoires, universities, festivals and professional development organisations across Europe, Africa and Canada. Her academic journey spans a B.A in Languages, an MA in Postcolonial Studies, a PhD in Dance Studies, and a Professional Certificate in Education. She is presently touring a family storytelling show called ‘In a city, near a forest’
