Emily Adams

Emily is an English-Japanese director, dance filmmaker, and choreographer from Essex. She currently works at The Place Theatre as a camera operator filming stage and studio performances. Her film, Emma (2021), won Best Short Film at FUSE Film Festival 2024, and her physical theatre and dance show, She’s F***ing Tired, was part of the Camden Fringe Festival 2024. She’s F***ing Tired exposed the insanity of beauty standards fuelled by social media trends and the impossible ideals imposed on women.
Emily works with contemporary dance and film to create meaningful narratives that resonate with audiences on stage and on screen.
Being part of a supportive cohort of women from diverse international backgrounds was an invaluable source of creativity, deeply shaping my growth as an artist. Their knowledge and skills enriched my practice, broadened my understanding of different cultural perspectives, and encouraged my openness to explore alternative possibilities within screendance. It was a truly nurturing and inspiring experience.
