The Place is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrea Barzey, who joins London Contemporary Dance School in the newly created role of Head of Widening Participation and Recruitment. In this role Andrea will be responsible for the development and implementation of the student recruitment strategy in the UK and internationally, working with national partners to ensure healthy and diverse recruitment nationally and globally.

Andrea is a dance educator, leader and project manager. She has a wealth of experience of working within Higher Education in a variety of roles, and has a particular interest in partnership development. Previously Andrea has held leadership roles at Coventry University as Associate Head of Performing Arts for Student Experience and Recruitment, as Course Director for MA Collaborative Theatre Making, and as Course Director for BA (hons) Dance. She has more recently held the role of Associate Programme Leader for MA/BA Dance at Dance City in Newcastle.

Andrea remains in her role as Development Director for the organisation Coventry Dance, and is also the Area Co-ordinator for Birmingham and the West Midlands for Live Well & Dance with Parkinson’s for People Dancing.

London Contemporary Dance School is a world-renowned institution that continually produces some of the globe’s most inquisitive and visionary choreographers, industry leaders and performers including Jamila Johnson-Small, Jemima Brown, Ben Duke, Anders Duckworth, Freddie Opoku-Addaie and Oona Doherty. I’m really looking forward to joining the school in this newly created role of Head of Widening Participation and Recruitment.

In this new role, Andrea will play an instrumental part in honing and developing our national and international recruitment strategies; a key area of focus for our organisation as we continue to move in a direction that evolves with the rhythms of the higher education and dance sectors. It’s an exciting time for London Contemporary Dance School and we’re embarking on lots of new adventures. We’re delighted to welcome Andrea on board.
