Job Description

Two dancers performing Little M
Credit: Camilla Greenwell

Little M is a story of transformation as a celebration of difference and acceptance. It’s a new dance show which retells the classic fairytale The Little Mermaid, considering trans experiences and showing how important it is to feel at home in your own skin. Little M is a proudly trans-led show, in which we are seeking close collaboration with the trans, non-binary and gender expansive community. The show will premiere at The Place theatre in October 2025.

Anders Duckworth (they/them, Choreographer & Co-Director) and Luke Skilbeck (he/they, Writer & Co-Director) are looking for young people aged 8 - 18, who identify as trans, non-binary or as a gender beyond the perceived binary, to join them in the storytelling and creation of Little M.

In June and July 2025, we are inviting young people and their families to join us in the studio at The Place in Euston for two afternoons to gain an insight into the creative process of making a dance show, and to engage in conversation with the team on how to shape the show.

After the studio sessions, we are keen to keep you involved in the creation process of Little M, and to hear what you think we could do to make the show more accessible and enjoyable for young trans people. We will have a dress run on Friday 22 August, where we’d love for those who joined the creation process to get a first glimpse of the show before the premier.
