Job Description

Programming Workshops

Aerowaves is a hub for dance discovery in Europe. Identifying the most promising new work by emerging dance artists, Aerowaves works to promote them through cross-border performances amongst a network of partners in 34 countries, enabling these younger choreographers to bring brand new dance to brand new audiences.

This February, London Contemporary Dance School and The Place will host ‘Aerowaves Artists’ Encounter’, a week of workshops and performances sharing cutting-edge contemporary practice. As part of this, we invite artists and students to a series of Programming Workshops.

Who’s it for?

Facilitated by Roberto Casarotto (Co-Director, Aerowaves) and Joseph Morgan Schofield (Programme Producer, The Place), the Programming Workshops are an opportunity to gain insight into Aerowaves’ own rigorous selection process as well as a gain a broader understanding of contemporary dance curation and programming. This should interest dance artists, choreographers, emerging producers, curators, and arts administrators.

What’s involved?

The Programming Workshops are discursive and participants will be facilitated to take part in a mock Aerowaves selection meeting. You will be sent documentation of a dance work to watch and evaluate before presenting on it in the workshop. The preparation should take no more than 60 minutes. In the session, we will hear from all participants about the works, watch extracts of each and discuss them as a group, before working together to programme a speculative festival.

How to sign up?

Date & Time: Tuesday 20th February, 11am to 2pm. Participants must be available for the whole duration of the workshop.

Venue: The Place, London, WC1H 9PY

Cost: Free
