Job Description
Tuesday 10 November 2026 | 2–5pm | In person or online
Garba: A Living Tradition is an interactive and welcoming exploration of Garba, a folk dance tradition from Gujarat, India, rooted in music, rhythm, movement and community.
Together, we'll explore traditional Garba songs, their meanings and cultural significance, alongside rhythmic clapping, circular movement and collective participation.
A central element of the workshop is the opportunity to experience singing, clapping and movement simultaneously, allowing participants to engage with Garba as an immersive and collective practice. Participants will then be invited to explore their own creative responses to traditional movement vocabulary, considering how it can inspire new artistic possibilities, with space to listen, reflect, share and create together.
Absolutely no previous dance or Garba experience is needed! Participation is flexible, with activities adaptable to different needs and abilities.
