About Resolution: Zac Priestley, Sophie Ormiston, and Marianna Sfyridi

Chasm by Zac Priestley

Chasm uses abstract ideas and absurdity to interrogate the act of reclaiming oneself and unlearning inherited beliefs.

The performer holds fragments of past lives; vigilance, disconnection, exhaustion and shame, which echoes throughout the landscape of their self-designed chasm. Trapped within cycles of these states, the performer begins to long for relief, for change, for joy once known. Unannounced, the chasm begins to tear itself open, offering the space for perspectives to shift.

The work asks: how can we reframe our past and move beyond restrictions designed to protect us? How can we find safety when it was never truly there?

About Zac Priestley

Zac Priestley is a London-based artist specialising in performance and movement. Trained at Rambert School and Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, his practice investigates embodiment, extreme physicalities, and care-based frameworks. Priestley makes work for communities who feel othered or isolated, exploring the act of reclaiming autonomy and oneself through uninhabited physical expression and play. As a freelance performer, he has worked with choreographers including Sir Wayne McGregor CBE, Benoit Swan Pouffer, Dorotea Saykaly and Katya Bourvis.

Best in Show by Sophie Ormiston

Set in a glitzy, glamorous, and colourful beauty pageant, Best In Show follows two contestants as they compete in familiar rituals of display. These rituals grow increasingly surreal, exposing the vulnerability and labour beneath polished versions of self-presentation. Through absurdity, humour, and spectacle, this theatrical world comments on society's obsession with optimisation, inviting the audience to recognise themselves in these systems of judgement.

About Sophie Ormiston

Sophie Ormiston is a dance artist from South East London and a graduate of Rambert School. After completing their training, they joined repertory company Tanz Kassel in Germany, where they danced for two years. During this time, Sophie collaborated with a range of choreographers and had the opportunity to stage their first work in a young choreographers evening. Since freelancing in London, Sophie has worked across projects spanning theatre, TV, film and galleries. Within their choreographic practice, Sophie enjoys exploring gender, experimenting with the weird and wonderful, and finding balance between simple images and powerful physicality that also communicates a story or concept.

Petrichor by Marianna Sfyridi

Petrichor is the name of the scent released when rain touches dry earth – a smell almost everyone knows and almost no one can explain. Its source is geosmin, produced by Streptomyces coelicolor, a soil bacterium that coordinates vast underground colonies without hierarchy; and the co-choreographer of this piece.

Soil vials pass between performers and audience. A berimbau assembles from four corners of the room. Bodies follow the map of bacteria.

Choreographer Marianna Sfyridi brings Capoeira, Greek Pentozali and laboratory research into dialogue, asking: what does it feel like to be part of a collective, from the inside? And what might the human body learn from the microcosm?
