Shift Audition

Audition applications now open!

If you’re aged 14-19 (school years 10 to 13) come and audition for Shift, where you will be able to develop your choreographic and performance skills while honing your personal dance practice.

Shift meet every Thursday of term time for a full academic year, working alongside their rehearsal director Lucy Evans.

Autumn term: A leading guest choreographer will be commissioned to create a piece of work for the stage which Shift will perform at any available platforms as they arise.

Spring term: Divided Project is a site-specific performance that you create in response to an external stimulus guided by Lucy and performed at an external venue/site.

Summer term: Various Workshops and projects will take place to advance your practice and explore different approaches to movement and choreography.

Prior dance experience is desirable but not essential: we are looking for committed young dancers who demonstrate creative potential and the ability to work well in a group and individually.

To attend this year’s audition, please reserve your space by booking online using the 'book now' button. The audition will take place on Saturday 20 July 2024 - 1.30pm - 3.30pm

From 1.30pm -3:00pm, the audition will consist of various movement tasks. Following this, there will be time for a 30-minute Q&A with the panel. Parents & Carers should join their dancers for this.

Please note:

• Alternative audition dates and times will not be available.
• Unfortunately, due to the quantity of applicants and the availability of spaces, we will be unable to offer all applicants a place.
• If for any reason you are no longer able to participate in the audition, please get in touch using the email address below so that we can offer your space to somebody else.
• Shift requires a year-long commitment from September through to July: regular attendance is important to ensure smooth creation and rehearsal processes.
