About Contemporary Beginners with Laura Gibson

This intensive will run from Monday 11 - Friday 15th August 2025.

This dynamic class introduces release-based techniques, helping develop your strength, stamina and technical precision. Through energetic dance phrases, you’ll explore shifts in weight, use of space alongside rhythm and musicality. We’ll encourage you to connect movement with feeling and expression. Experience the unity of dancing together in the studio, accompanied by the inspiring live music of Andres Pascua.

This class is ideal for those who have completed our Contemporary Introduction courses or have some prior dance experience, allowing you to further develop your skills in Contemporary dance.

Class information
  • Enrol for the term for £70.00 to save and guarantee your place or drop-in for £16.00 per class.

  • Please arrive on time - unfortunately we are unable to accommodate participants who are more than 15 minutes late as the warm-up is an important part of the class.

About Your Teacher

With a 22-year dance career, Laura has successfully established herself as a creative practitioner, choreographer, and technician in both professional and educational settings. Laura has worked with notable choreographers and companies, including Kerry Nicholls, Shane Shambhu, Two Thirds Sky, Dance United, and the Richard Alston Dance Company, as both a performer and teacher, and has held creative roles in education, outreach, and youth dance, representing and assisting Henri Oguike and Kenneth Tharp. Laura is regularly commissioned by companies, filmmakers, vocational institutions and university dance programs to create new repertory. Recently, she collaborated on a dance film featured on the Art Wall at The London Hippodrome.
