Tobi Welstand-Keryk
Tobi is a qualified Occupational Therapist with over 20 years’ experience specialising in mental health and wellbeing. She studied Creative Arts in Education and Therapy at master’s level shortly after qualifying. She uses strength-based and positive psychology approaches to support each individual to understand and positively manage their mental health and wellbeing.
Tobi has had a career in a wide range of mental health NHS services, working collaboratively with young adults to manage and improve their wellbeing and mental health. She has supported the development of recovery-based services in the UK and overseas. She worked previously as the deputy manager of the Recovery and Wellbeing College in Central Northwest London NHS foundation trust. She then transitioned into the Higher education sector, working for four years as a Mental health Advisor at the University of Roehampton. She has supported students from all faculties, however with her passion for creativity, she particularly enjoyed working within the School of Art’s and the well-established Dance programmes. Tobi has loved Dance from a young age and it continues to make her heart sing.
Tobi is interested in and respect’s each person’s values, interests, identity, and heritage. She works in a holistic way utilising all her training and experience, which includes working within a trauma informed approach, and utilising Motivational interviewing and Cognitive behavioural therapy practices. She also draws on her substantial training in Mindfulness practices from Oxford University’s Mindfulness Centre and The Centre for Mindfulness research and practice at Bangor University.
She is passionate about mental health and wellbeing and strongly advocate’s creating balance and positive pauses in our lives, to manage the demands of studying, training, working and living in London. She works in partnership with each student to enable each person, to maximise their unique potential and optimise their wellbeing and mental health.
Alongside her work as a Mental health advisor, Tobi has a senior role contributing to a National charity promoting peace, education, and culture.
