Raymond Koning

Raymond Koning, originally from the Netherlands and based in London, is a highly experienced dance educator with over 30 years of teaching experience. He provides high-quality training to students of all levels, including professional dancers. He holds a BA (Hons) in Dance Education from Codarts in Rotterdam and an MA from the Hungarian Ballet Academy in Budapest, where he studied the Vaganova method.
Raymond has taught at leading institutions including the Royal Ballet School’s Associate Programme, Wilkes Academy, Rambert School of Ballet & Contemporary Dance and Bird College. He also served as Assistant Artistic Director at Young Dancers Academy and West London School of Dance.
His international teaching experience includes guest teaching at Pre-Danza di Laura Alonso in Cuba, the dance department of HögeSkolan in Sweden, and Gruppo Teatrale Sperimentale in Italy, where he previously performed professionally.
Raymond has also worked as a Spinal and Posture Analyst at a chiropractor clinic, providing spinal screenings and posture assessments for corporate employees. This work deepened his understanding of body alignment and injury prevention.
He combines strong technical training with a focus on psychological safety, critical thinking, and artistic expression.
He writes accessible educational materials under the name The Mind Behind Movement and is currently developing research-based resources on proprioception and mental wellbeing in dance.
