Melissa Gmuer de Mora is a community dance practitioner living and working in South East Asia. Her current projects explore the use of movement and dance in community development and trafficking prevention. Through participation in this MA, she hopes to continue to develop her practice in drawing attention to people and communities that are often overlooked or ignored, finding beauty in hard and difficult places, and bringing people together with a focus on embodying all it means to be human.

There have been so many good moments in the course so far that it’s hard to pick one. My mind keeps going back to a quote from Rebecca Hilton about “dancerness” being about special noticing. This draws me in as I experience this course and how it intersects with my desire in my practice to help others notice and amplify their own voices
