Iona is a mover, activist, researcher, and facilitator, living and working in Caerdydd, Cymru, UK. Iona’s work centers the notion of ‘a/liveness.’ Straddling the somatic, the social, and the performative, their work considers the radical potential of live encounters between beings (human and non-human) to respond to the urgencies of the present. Through the MA Dance: Participation, Communities, Activism, Iona will imagine and enact body-based methodologies which include disrupting and queering the politics of resistance and care.

A learning moment which has really inspired me on this course is this notion of biocentric equality. What would it be to move through the world feeling that every other being has an experience as rich and complex as our own? How do we soften into this understanding? I am interested in how we experience boundaries as spaces which both protect and connect
