The Office for Students (OfS) is today publishing its Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023 outcomes for higher education providers, and London Contemporary Dance School is pleased to announce we have received Silver Rating overall, with Silver for Student Outcomes and Gold rating for our Student Experience.

The TEF assesses undergraduate courses. The Office for Students evaluated activity, results and experiences for the period 2018-2022, and these ratings were awarded in 2023, for the next four years.

Clare Connor, Chief Executive of The Place, says,

'The Place is home to London Contemporary Dance School. Driven by our charitable objectives to pioneer in contemporary dance education, presentation and production, and with our world-leading vision and status, we remain steadfast in our commitment to create a world-leading environment where our students - both past, present and in the future - can thrive and excel. We are grateful to the OfS for the opportunity to demonstrate and celebrate our commitment to the student experience and student outcomes for the period 2018-2022 and we look forward to continuing to learn and develop as an organisation and with the wider sector in the approach to the TEF in 2027.'

Dr Lise Uytterhoeven, Director of Dance Studies at LCDS, says:

'We are grateful to the TEF panel for recognising the excellence of London Contemporary Dance School’s provision in the 2018-2022 period, a time of significant transformation. The impact of recent enhancements to the curriculum through our new validation partnership with University of the Arts London will be fully realised by the next TEF exercise in 2027. We will focus on the continuous development of our education in partnership with students and industry partners. My deepest thanks to Ailsa Hobbins for authoring the student submission – testament to London Contemporary Dance School’s thriving culture of student voice – and to our expert faculty and support staff for nurturing the students through their education towards outstanding progression into the profession.'

Ailsa Hobbins, second year student on the BA Hons Contemporary Dance, and lead author on our TEF student submission, says:

"The student body of London Contemporary Dance School is excited but not surprised by the final TEF Rating, as the school, staff, and programme provide students with an outstanding educational experience and excellent student outcomes. This very high final rating is a result of the continued dedication from the school to create an engaging, and supportive learning environment for all students; combined with the prioritization and celebration of the student voice, and continued improvement and development of the programme for future generations. The student body thanks the Office for Students for their hard work on the TEF response and joins London Contemporary Dance School in celebrating its excellent outcomes."
