Job Description

FABRIC is delighted to open applications for our 2023-2024 residency programme.

This open call is for artists based in the UK, we’re offering money, space, and staff support to explore new ideas or support the realisation of projects.

We have a total budget of £43,200 (not including access costs) to distribute across a minimum of 7 projects.

In partnership with Unlimited, we will offer at least 2 residency places to artists that identify as disabled. We will also offer 1 place for international collaboration and at least 2 residency places to artists that currently live in the Midlands.

Residencies will take place in Birmingham and Nottingham between September 2023 and March 2024. Delivery can be in consecutive week long blocks or individual days to work around other work/life commitments.

The offer includes space, money and staff support. There are two strands available to apply for:

Open Residency

For work at various stages of development. This could be research into a new idea where time and space are needed to explore, test and develop, or a project that has already undertaken a research and development process and could benefit from additional time to adapt, strengthen or finalise.

International Collaboration

FABRIC will offer one residency to an artist/collective interested in collaboration, co-creation and/or research with another artist living outside the UK. There should be a specific rationale and reason as to why this international collaborator is essential and brings something unique to the residency. The residency will take place at FABRIC Nottingham or Birmingham.

If you have any questions or would like support from someone in our team (who won’t be part of the selection process) to help you complete your application, please get in touch by email to artists@fabric.dance
