About Company Class with Yukiko Masui

Yukiko's class focuses on how to flow, stop, groove and attack movements as well as gaining strength to be in and out of the floor efficiently. Her technique is influenced by Hip-hop foundation of isolation and rhythm training. The class is going to build your stamina and strength through a series of exercises such as isolation, floor exercise. At the end of the class, you will learn a more complex phrase which explores variety of dynamics and rhythm.

These classes are designed for professional dancers, recent dance graduates and technically advanced dancers.

  • Please arrive on time - unfortunately, we cannot accommodate participants over 15 minutes late, as the warm-up is an important part of the class.

  • Over the summer months we’ve been working to upgrade our toilets, changing rooms and the café space. While much of the refurbishment is now complete, some ongoing works may affect the facilities available to you to use during the first few weeks of term. About Yukiko Masui

Yukiko is a Tokyo-born choreographer & movement director. In 2008, she moved to London to study Contemporary Dance and joined Transitions Dance Company at Trinity Laban. Since the graduation, she has been working internationally with companies and choreographers such as Agudo Dance, Art of Spectra(SE), Cathy Waller, Norrdans (SE), Rhiannon Faith, Tamsin Fitzgerald(2Faced Dance), TRIBE and more.

Her choreographic credit includes NDCWales (SAY), Norrdans, The Place, National Dance Youth Wales, NSCD, MAP dance & Emergence(SAY).

She is a co-founder of SAY and they have been part of the creative team of Romeo and Juliet starring Tom Holland and The Effect both directed by Jamie Lloyd on Westend and National Theatre.

Masui has also received a Choreography DanceXchange and was part of mentoring programme by Akram Khan Company supported by Sky Arts. She is currently an associate artist at The Place and Dance East associates as SAY.
