A weekend with Matthew Bourne's New Adventures for male-identifying young people to explore their passion for dance
Hosted at The Place, Boys in Motion is back for another year with a weekend of exciting, explorative dance workshops taught by industry-leading male-identifying dance artists from New Adventures and supported by The Place musicians.
This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for young boys to discover their interest in dance in a high energy, creative environment. Participants will work with dedicated artists over two days engaging in contemporary, ballet, and creative exercises, as well as have a Q&A with the New Adventures' artists to learn more about how they started their learning journey and what it is like to be a male-identifying artist in the performing arts industry. The weekend will culminate in crafting a unique dance piece to share with families and friends on the final day.
Parents/carers will also have the chance to talk to our Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) team to learn more about pre-vocational training, funding options, and more.
Who can apply?
Any male-identifying and non-binary young person, aged from 10-18 years old with a genuine passion for dance, regardless of their background and dance ability.
Ticket price and bursaries
The total ticket price includes 2 days of dance workshops led by New Adventure artists and hosted at The Place, Q&A with the artists, and a family sharing on the final day.
Early bird: £70 (available for anyone who books by or before Mon 22 Dec)
Standard tickets: £80
We don't want the price to be a barrier for any young person from experiencing this exciting opportunity. Bursaries are available for anyone who is unable to afford the full ticket price. Please get in touch with us at centreforadvancedtraining@theplace.org.uk
