Camden Schools Festival 2022
News Story
Every year, our Creative Learning team works with a collective of Camden primary schools to bring dance into the day-to-day learning of local children, providing many with their first taste of dance. This year, we were thrilled to work with 13 schools who took part in creative dance projects earlier this year with the children’s hard work culminating on 22 and 23 March with the Camden Partner Schools Festival and it was a HUGE success!
Around 660 children came to The Place to perform their dances to a full house of families, school teachers, and special guests including Cllr. Sabrina Francis the Mayor of Camden and representatives from John Lyon's Charity who have generously supported the project.
The children's pieces were based on what they had been learning in the curriculum that year, including electricity, the Amazon rainforest, meteorology, volcanoes and earthquakes, hatching chicks, individuality, the Ancient Egyptians, the Stone Age, the culture of India, the Vikings and many more! The children were nervous but excited and all did incredibly well; they were rightfully proud of what they achieved.
