Ziggy Pye

Ziggy Pye (they/them) is a multifaceted artist based in London. After having obtained a musical theatre degree from Bird College, they proceeded to delve into the world of contemporary dance, joining the MA Dance Performance at LCDS.
In their practice, they merge their technical expertise in musical theatre and contemporary dance with their passion for drag, voguing, and other forms of queer performance.
Ziggy seeks to create rebellious art that is multi-faceted, strange, dark, fabulous, and political, enriching the field of contemporary dance by blending it with the creation of fantastical drag creatures.
They are artistically curious about gender play, feminism and costuming and they strive to give a voice to those who are often societally silenced, as they empower women and non-binary folk to take up space by reconnecting with their bodies, minds, and the earth.
Previous work experiences include their performance in Barbie, a dance film raising awareness and funds for women's health, their choreography and direction for contemporary dance film After the Fall, and their engagement as a character and parade performer at Disneyland Paris
Ziggy is a graduate of the MA Dance: Performance programme at LCDS, where they were a member of Cohort 02. During the programme they worked with project leaders such as Dickson Mbi Company, Alexander Whitley Dance Company, Theo Clinkard, Steve Kirkham, Holly Blakey, Hannes Langolf, Seke Chimutengwende, Benjamin Jonsson, Rakesh Sukesh and Alleyne Dance under the course leadership of Tom English, Tina Afiyan Breiova and Dr Andrew Sanger, working closely with individual mentor Theo Clinkard.
