Syukie Zhang is a choreographer, movement artist, and PhD researcher at London Contemporary Dance School and University of the Arts London. Her research explores choreography as embodied knowledge and intellectual labour, with a focus on building structural and policy support for choreographers. With a background in philosophy, language, and street–contemporary fusion, as well as experience in product management and entrepreneurship, she brings a unique cross-disciplinary perspective to her practice. Her work centres on authorship, labour recognition, and artistic legitimacy across different cultural and industry landscapes. She has created and led choreographic works in London, LA, and Beijing, and is passionate about building spaces where embodied research and artistic autonomy intersect.
