Lu Deng is a dance artist and emerging producer whose work weaves movement, memory and cultural storytelling. Rooted in classical Chinese dance and contemporary choreography, her practice explores how tradition can breathe within innovation. Through improvisation, gesture and theatricality, she creates intimate worlds where fabric, sound and objects become extensions of emotion.

Lu Deng is a graduate of the MA Dance: Performance programme at LCDS, where she was a member of Cohort 02. During the programme she worked with project leaders such as Dickson Mbi Company, Alexander Whitley Dance Company, Theo Clinkard, Steve Kirkham, Holly Blakey, Hannes Langolf, Seke Chimutengwende, Benjamin Jonsson, Rakesh Sukesh and Alleyne Dance under the course leadership of Tom English, Tina Afiyan Breiova and Dr Andrew Sanger, working closely with individual mentor Mengke Wu.

Through this journey, I learned to listen and to see different bodies—to discover diversity and find stillness in a bustling city. Seeing the world through my peers’ eyes helped me rediscover what I truly love.
